November 2 in Russian history

2007

Yes, it's today. This morning, Igor Moiseyev has died at the age of 101. He was the founder and the head of the State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble, or simply the Moiseyev Ensemble. This ensemble managed to take the folk dances of various peoples to the level of ultimate professionalism while keeping the folk spirit. Since 1955, the ensemble visited a large number of countries and became a semi-official symbol of the Soviet art. I don't know what he did with his dancers, but every step they made was polished to perfection. Every show was magical. Now, he's gone... It's like yet another part of life has gone :(
